Working with the Landowner and Gaining the Right Permissions

It is important that you know who owns the land you are going to detect on and that you have their permission to do so.

Grim Sweepers will guide you on how to find landowners and also how to work with them.

Record your findings

You will need to report significant archaeological / historical finds to the Portable Antiquities Scheme, as well as the landowner.
Grim Sweepers will advise you who to contact.
It’s possible that you may find yourself calling the Police to report certain unusual finds.
