What we offer
What’s The Deal?
Whether you want a half-day session with Chris on a one-to-one basis; or a group booking – you and up to three friends or colleagues – the deal is the same.
You will be introduced to the Code of Practice for Responsible Metal Detecting, followed by a brief session on how to use the equipment.
After that, you will be able to put your new-found skills into practice on a suitable dig location. Chris will be there for you during this time to make sure you’re happy with what you’re doing.
Grim Sweepers will provide you with the metal detector, pro-pointer, finds-pouch and spade.
You will need to provide packed lunch and suitable clothing and footwear. Grim Sweepers recommend you wear heavy-soled boots or shoes (not steel toe-capped) and be prepared for all weathers (sunshine, rain and wind).
Metal detecting is a great hobby, but it is extremely physical. There is a lot of walking (on uneven ground) often in wet weather – sorry, that’s British weather for you! You could walk miles in a day. There is also a lot of bending, digging and, of course, carrying – unless you have employed a metal detecting caddy to carry your spade for you.
So please think about your health and fitness when considering taking up the hobby. On the other hand, that’s what we’re here for – to help you find out more and decide if it’s something you want to do.
With Grim Sweepers you will learn how to detect using the following equipment:
- Garrett Ace 250 OR the XP ORX Metal Detector
- XP Pointer (this is a small hand-held device to help you pin-point a find from the detector’s signal)
Equipment supplied by Leisure Promotions
Lost and Found / Private Tuition
Grim Sweepers will help you find that item of jewellery, or pocket full of change, you have just lost on the beach.
Perhaps you’ve bought yourself a metal detector and are not sure how to use it. Grim Sweepers can help you. Check out the Day Packages, it’s the same as the one-to-one deal, just with your kit!
